An Ambitious Promise By A Man in Love
Our story began in 2019 when a man in love, who was living in an apartment with no land, made a bold promise to plant 1000 peonies.
Our first peony roots were planted in a community garden as a gesture of love. Love and community are what those blooms represent, and in how we share them.
Now, seven years later, our forever peony garden in Seymour, IL, is bursting with 1000s of blooms from 700+ peony plants.
Our peonies began in a community garden, and every spring we send the blooms out into the community.
They are donated to food pantries, shelters, fundraisers, youth programs, and free peony pop-up bars.
Helping Others Plant Their Own Peony Stories The Bloom for Generations
In 2025, we began a new journey to help others write their own peony stories by planting sentimental fresh premium roots.
Peonies are storytellers. A single plant blooms every spring for 100 years, carrying the memories and meaningful connections of everyone who has loved it.
The meaningful memories and connections they create between others are gifts. Receiving a peony root, and all that it represents, should feel like a gift.
We couldn't find roots products presented in a way that marks the beginning of a new peony story and traditions of growing and sharing peonies with others.
So in the fall of 2025, we released a limited number of The Peony Story Root Collections and Root Gifts online and in-store at Main Street Botanicals.
Peony roots are meaningful gifts for engagements, weddings, new homes, a new life, a birth, Mother's Day, or simply someone worth celebrating in a way that lasts.

In the Spring of 2026, we launched our a full collection of The Peony Story Roots and Root gifts to help others write peony stories that bloom for generations.
Each peony root collection and gift tells different stories of romantic love, family, friendship, and the beauty of creativity and the unexpected.
Our roots' stories began years ago on small family farms, rich in their own stories, right here in the U.S. The same farms we've trusted for our garden.

None of this would be possible without the generosity of others.
